This program is ideal for children aged 2–3 who are ready to explore, discover, and grow alongside their parent or caregiver.

Our "Adult & Tots" (aka "Mom & tots") program offers a perfect mix of toddler-friendly activities designed to foster bonding, learning, and play.

What to Expect in Our Program

  • Engaging Activities: Enjoy storytime, crafts, science experiments, art projects, games, and songs with your toddler.

  • Indoor & Outdoor Play: Classes take place in our bright, cozy classroom and extend into a beautiful outdoor area featuring a forest, two play parks, and a hill perfect for tobogganing and outdoor fun.

  • Skill Development: Your child will build social skills, grow comfortable in a preschool setting, and explore our play-to-learn stations for creative and independent learning & discovery.

  • Parents can relax with a coffee or tea while connecting with other families in a supportive, welcoming environment.

What Makes Magic Circle's parent & tot classes better than others?

  • Each class is designed to please and engage both the toddler and parent, while allowing time for independant play.

note: Spots fill quickly. Message us if the class you wish for is full and we will place you on the waiting list.

  • Are lunch and snacks included?
We respect all of your choices when it comes to what your child eats. It's one of the reasons snacks & lunch come from your home!
  • What is the teacher/student ratio?
Typically, there is 1 adult for every 8 children. However, there can be more hands-on deck when we have a university or ECE student working in our classroom. We also have a duty parent but they do not affect the ratio.
  • How many school breaks or vacation closures does the preschool have?
We generally follow an elementary school closure schedule (major holidays, long weekends, March break, Summer break, etc). You will be informed well in advance of any set preschool closures.
  • Have the educators obtained their police checks?
Yes, all educators have had their police checks.
  • Do all the educators have their Emergency Child Care First Aid CPR/AED?
    Absolutely.
  • Does my child need to be potty trained in order to attend Magic Circle Preschool?
Yes, your child will need to be potty trained by the time they start preschool. We can accept them in a Pull-Up at the beginning of the year only if it’s only to prevent occasional accidents, not as a means of replacing the use of the toilet. The toilets are in our classroom (there is a door) and are child-size as this has always been a kindergarten and pre-kindeergarten learning space.
  • My child is not yet 3. Can we still register for next year?
Children must be 3 by September of their first year to register for our core 4-day program, however, we are currently accepting names for 2024-2025. Please fill out this form and we will get in touch with you ASAP. Don't forget! We also have "adult & tots" classes for Toddlers ages 2 & 3 years old.
  • Are the 3 and 4-year-olds mixed together?
FAQ: Classroom Setup and Curriculum Our preschool features two adjoining classrooms that provide ample space for learning and play. During independent playtimes, all the children come together to explore and engage in these generous, shared spaces. For Circle Time and other age-specific learning activities, the children are divided into age groups to ensure that the curriculum is tailored to their developmental stages. This approach allows us to meet each child's unique needs while fostering a sense of community during shared activities. Our carefully adjusted curriculum supports growth, learning, and fun at every age!
  • What’s the deadline for registering?
Registrations for the following school year open in the late Fall and continue on a first-come first-served basis until the spaces are filled. There is no specific cut-off date, however, once we are full, we start a waiting list.
  • Can my child arrive or leave at any time?
Unlike some daycares, there are set start and end times to this program. (It is not a drop-in program.) Please note that if there is a time conflict in either program, let us know and we'll see if we can help. It's 8:30 in the morning until either 12:30 or 2:00PM, depending on your program.
  • How much parental involvement/time commitment should be expected?
We are not a CO-OP, so parent responsibilities are few. We have a beloved 'child's special Day" aka "Duty Parent Parent" Program! Each child will have the pleasure of having a parent (it can be a grandparent) come once every 4-5 weeks for a special day in the classroom (it is a rotation). This has strengthened our community because we all get to know each other... A little bit or a lot. It's up to you! **Please note: Duty Parent will need to be fully COVID vaccinated to come into the school**
  • Does Magic Circle Preschool issue RL-24 tax forms?
Yes, we do. If you'd like to learn more about tax credits specifically for parents, please visit this area of the Revenu Quebec site.
  • Are there any additional costs or fees to attend Magic Circle Preschool?
There will be an Activity Fee which we calculate at the beginning of the year based on what activities we have confirmed. The cost of field trips and special activities throughout the year can have a nominal fee, for example, apple picking is approximately $20, while the Forest Adventure is free.
  • Does MCPS offer online payments?
Yes! Some programs are now payable online, with more options being added. Please inquire!
  • If my child goes to daycare or another preschool, can we still enroll them in a class at Magic Circle?
Yes, absolutely! We have different types of classes offered at different times of the week. Find the ones that suit your schedule and join in the fun & learning!
  • Is it a drop-off class?
No, this program is an adult & child interactive class. (It can also be a trusted adult other than Mom or Dad). Not only will you have an opportunity to spend quality time in ideal preschool settings, but also, the educator has loads of experience in Early Childhood education so you can steal fun games, activities and tips and use them at home!
  • Is it ok if my child is not yet potty trained?
Yes, absolutely! There are small bathrooms in the classroom if your child can use them but if not, they can wear Pull-Ups and we will have a spot for you to change them. You may want to consider a Pull-Up for our outside play classes. If you are unsure, talk to us about it!
  • What happens if my older child has a PED day on a day when we have a Magic Circle Class?
Bring them along! Simply let us know in advance if possible.
  • What happens if the weather is not ideal for the outdoor class that day? Will the class be canceled?
We will make every effort to enjoy the outdoors in all weather but in the event of extreme weather or weather not conducive to outdoor play, we will move the class indoors.
  • What type of snacks or lunches should I bring for my child?
Snacks and lunches should be healthy and ideally simple and easy to eat, especially for our Outdoor Preschool Class. Magic Circle is also a nut-and-peanut-free school, both indoors and out. We have found that children love snacks and lunches that allow them to eat autonomously (opening and closing their containers, zipping up lunch bags), as they practice eating in a group setting.
